Read: Mark 1:1-8, Micah 4:5
Reflect: I love this passage of scripture! I think the manner in which it begins is worthy of our attention, “The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God…”
And what is happening here in the beginning? There is one in the wilderness crying out, “Prepare the way of the Lord…”
Here we are on day one of this wonderful month, the start of the Christmas season. I can think of no better way to begin, and no better offering to give than to prepare our hearts by making room for the Lord.
In this season where busyness and hurried living can so easily overtake our days, stopping to prepare the way for the Lord in all that we say and do, in our families and in our daily tasks, will keep us from overlooking the gospel of Jesus Christ at this time when many are most welcome to receive it.

Discuss: Think on this… How can you prepare the way of the Lord and make room for His presence in your life this Christmas season? What are some things you can do to keep Him at the center of your holiday?
Pray: Lord Jesus, it is our joy to prepare the way for you this season. It is our delight to be carriers of your gospel, sharing your love and light with all we encounter. Show us how we might prepare our hearts for you, our coming King, the Savior of the World.
In Your name we pray, Amen.
