He Will Give You Everything You Need To Fulfill It!
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking,
correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God
may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)
When we hear the words of this verse, we may feel offended because we think that we don’t need to be taught or trained, and especially to be rebuked or corrected. But the wise person knows that our kind and loving Father God has only the best in mind for us. If we are to have His best, we need to be taught His way of doing things, be trained in hearing and obeying His voice, and, when necessary, be rebuked or corrected so we get back on the right path in life.
God created us with a drive to have purpose. And, He has that purpose in mind. As you were being formed in your mother’s womb, God gave you unique characteristics, aptitudes, and even interests for you to use in living out His purpose for your life. Underlying all of life are two reasons why we were created: 1. To know and love God; and 2. To share His love with others, and to partner with Him in bringing His kingdom of love, joy, and peace to the world.
The way that we live out these primary purposes in our lives depends on how God made us. For example, if I am an artist, I may notice God’s infinite variety of color and shape and design more than others do, and this may inspire me to worship. If I am a mechanic, I may help people fix their cars as a means of serving them. Or if I am a nature-lover, I may experience God’s presence most when I am in the mountains and take kids on a hike to share the love of Christ with them. However, God has wired us, it is our knowledge and application of His Word that deepens our ability to rightly align these God-given gifts and passions with Him.
PRAYER: Lord, thank You for Your Word. Make it part of me! Help me come to Scripture with humility, ready to learn and receive all that You have for me. Equip me for the good purposes you have for my life as I spend time with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
