During this quarantine time, I have been going through a Devotional called New Morning Mercies by Paul Tripp and if you have not heard of it, I would definitely recommend it. I thought that something he said a few days ago was perfect for this current season as many of us might be eagerly looking to the future and playing the ‘what if’ game… I know I am guilty of that. But in this devotional, we are reminded that, “Peace and hope are never to be found in your efforts to figure out the future. God’s secret will is called his secret will precisely because it is secret! No, real hope is found in living inside the implications of what it means that God holds your future in his wise, powerful, and gracious hands.”
For me, I’m encouraged in knowing that it is not bad to think about the future and prepare for it as long as we are not allowing the fear of the unknown and the fear of what we cannot control to consume and overtake us. As children of God we have been given a hope and future.
Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Friend, we could not be in better hands! Keep leaning into his word and his comfort.
