Audio PlayerHello, I’m Jacinta Tegman, CEO of CRISTA Ministries. It’s my joy to greet you today on this National Day of Prayer. Our government has set aside, since 1952, the first Thursday of every May by proclamation of the President of the United States as a National Day of Prayer. Yes, we pray often in our nation and certainly we could pray more, but this is a special day where across our nation, we come together and lift before the Lord our needs. We know that God’s Word tells us that blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. And so, now I’m going to invite you to join with me in praying for our nation on this National day of Prayer.
Father God, in the mighty name of Jesus, we bring to you these United States of America. And Father, at this important time in our nation and in our world, we lift up our nation to you in prayer asking you, God, to have mercy on our land. Father, we repent of all the times that we have turned from you. But God, today in prayer, we turn towards you and ask God, that you would move in your great love upon this great land. And Lord, we’re lifting to you our President. We lift President Biden to you. We ask God that you would give him wisdom. We ask God that you would lead him. Lord, surround him by people that know you and that would bring direction to the many critical decisions he must make. Lord, we lift to you vice President Harris. Lord God, we pray that you would surround her also with people that love you, that are praying for her that would speak into her life and that she would be directed by you. Lord, we lift up both legislation in our two houses, the Senate and the House of Representatives. And God, we ask in this most important process of our democracy, Lord, that you would lead and guide… Lord, that you would direct the steps of our legislators, God, so that they would enact laws and bring to pass things that honor you, that honor your Word, and that would follow God your mandates.
Lord, we lift to you, Governor Insley. Father, we pray that your hand of protection would be upon him. We also pray, God, that you would lead and direct Lord, his decisions, his steps, his agenda. God, we pray, Lord, for our state of Washington, God, we need you so desperately at this time and we’re praying that you would move through all of our public servants in a way, God that would bring you glory and that would point people to you. Lord Jesus. We do lift up our public servants. We think of our first responders, those in the police force, those who are firefighting. And Father, we are praying, God, your hand of protection upon them. God, we pray for mercy. We know that those are tough jobs. We know that they serve the public’s interest. And Father, we’re praying God, that they would also serve your interests as well.
Lord, we’re thinking of our schools now. We’re thinking of school boards and administrators and teachers, those who are on the front line of such an important area in our nation, in our state, and certainly in this region. And we’re asking God for your hand of protection to be upon them. We’re asking that you would lead and guide and Father, mostly we’re praying that through their work and through the work of many others that would, revival would come upon the youth of our nation. Lord, we are declaring in prayer our desperate need for you. And we’re asking God that you would move not only in the youth of our nation, but in the institutions of families and marriages for moms, for dads, for extended families, for those who are looking over foster children and for those who are hungry to be families. Father, we are praying and giving this area to you and asking Lord that you would superintendent this area of our nation and that you would restore Lord hearts of moms and dads to each other, to children, Lord, and that this would be an area God of strength in our nation.
Father, we’re lifting up churches, those who stand in the front line by preaching the Word of God in season and out of season. And we’re praying God, that in the pulpits of our nation, that the Word of God would be lifted high, and that the love of Christ, Lord, would come through all the programming, all the messaging, all the messages, and preaching Lord, so that those who were walking in darkness would see your great light.
And Father, we lift up this Seattle area. We’re praying that words of life and peace and blessing would fall upon our city. And we’re thinking of all the areas, God, that we need you so desperately at this time and at this hour. Lord, as we think of this national day of prayer, and the prayers that we are offering today are joined by hundreds, if not thousands upon thousands of people, calling out to the God of heaven, to move mightily upon this nation, upon this state, upon this region, so that we would come to know you more fully. That we would live lives that are blessed because we are obeying your word, and God through that blessing, that many would be drawn into your kingdom.
Father God, may your kingdom come. May your will be done in these United States of America is our prayer today. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
